Thanks to an alliance between Pesquera Hayduk and Recolecc, the comprehensive and free rehabilitation of children from Aniquem will be helped

      According to the Ministry of the Environment, in Peru more than 200,000 tons of WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) are generated annually, that is, approximately 6 kilos per inhabitant.

      This alliance will allow giving an adequate environmental treatment to WEEE through a correct disposal of the dangerous and toxic components contained in them.

      Likewise, through a circular economy approach, free and comprehensive rehabilitation treatments for children with burns will also be contributed.

 

Lima, July 20th, 2022.- As part of its sustainability strategy and commitment to comply with the Sustainable Development Goals, Pesquera Hayduk signed an alliance with RECOLECC, a collective system for managing waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) that, in addition to facilitating the proper treatment of this waste, prevent health risks and contribute to reducing the carbon footprint; It will allow carrying out comprehensive rehabilitation for child burn survivors of the non-profit organization, Aniquem.

Likewise, at Hayduk we reaffirm our commitment to the sustainable management of our operations with the aim of generating a positive environmental and social impact”, mentioned José Arriola, CEO of Pesquera Hayduk.

 

In this first collection of WEEE material, the Hayduk fishing company will manage between 6.5 to 7 tons of WEEE waste. Likewise, it will continue with the collection of WEEE material in all its offices, making all its collaborators aware of the correct handling of said material, and the importance of its recycling for environmental care and the reduction of the carbon footprint.

 

For his part, the representative of RECOLECC Gustavo Diaz, Business Manager, highlighted: “The main role of our collective System is to be the strategic ally of companies such as Hayduk, which need to properly manage their WEEE, comply with the current environmental regulatory framework and contribute to the transition to the circular economy, through the correct recycling process, promoting sustainability in the Business”

 

What will happen to the WEEE collected in the campaign?

1. As a first step, they are collected and transported to the recovery plant of the operating company Comimtel Recycling, an ally of the RECOLECC Collective System.

2. Subsequently, the WEEE are recorded and weighed to generate traceability of the waste.

3. Then, Comimtel Recycling's specialized staff proceeds to classify the WEEE.

4. Next, the specialized personnel is in charge of the dismantling and decontamination, in order to properly dispose of the dangerous and toxic components, and reinsert the recyclable or usable components as secondary raw material.

5. Finally, the WEEE management, handling and traceability certificates are issued.
